Throwing Taster

Throwing Taster
A short introduction to making pots on the potter’s wheel - for people who are curious about clay, movement and form, and want to understand how clay behaves in the hands.
This session is about beginning well. You’ll be guided through the essential stages of wheel work: centring the clay, controlling the wheel, opening form and lifting a simple vessel. Rather than rushing toward results, the emphasis is on learning how small changes in posture, pressure and pace quietly shape what emerges.
For many people, this is the first step: a wheel, some structure, and enough support to begin making.
You’ll learn through doing, with steady guidance throughout, and space to notice how your own touch, rhythm and decisions affect the outcome. It’s a practical introduction that values process as much as product.
