Near
York Open Studios, 10/11 and 17/18 July 2021. Annual community arts event representing artists and makers living or working within a ten-mile radius of the city. Visit...
Grayson Perry: The Pre-Therapy Years, until 5 September 2021, York Art Gallery. Many of the works displayed in the Pre-Therapy Years tell a very personal story, particularly in the evolution of Claire, who first appeared in the early 80’s inspired by such powerful women as television newsreaders and Princess Diana, rather than the exuberant child-like figure Perry created after her ‘coming out’ party in 2000.
Sheffield Ceramics Festival, 24-25 July, Kelham Island Museum. 40 local makers showcase their work.
Far
Monochrome, until 17 July, Ruthin Craft Centre. A cross genre exhibition that highlights the subtleties of line, mark, form and texture. With work by twenty contemporary makers the exhibition looks beyond colour and considers what we would generally term the opposite: all the nuances between the polarities of black and white.
Hans Coper 100, until 26 September, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. To mark the 100th anniversary of Hans Coper’s birth, the Ashmolean is devoting a display to an exhibition of Coper’s ceramics made across his career. The exhibition includes ceramics from the Museum’s own collection together with more than 30 loans from private collections.
Potfest, June, July & early August, various locations. Potfest celebrate all things clay. Meet artists, talk pots, and buy directly from makers.
