Who loves mornings? We do! Here at Sunken Studio we’ve been initiating new habits and routines. Recently we’ve been up and at the studio much earlier than usual to make pots, a lot of pots. While potting we’ve been wondering if you might like to join us for an early shift, and there’s only one way to find out… On 20 March we’ll be launching our Spring/Summer course calendar and you’ll see some new additions. We’ve introduced a Potter’s Week and Handbuilder’s Week to our portfolio of courses. Ahead of releasing the calendar we’re sharing a few details… just incase your thoughts are beginning to turn to freedom, and what to do with it!

Potter's Week:
Join the early shift. Relax and enjoy our spacious pottery when the potters are about. Our potter's week is a level 0/1 intensive throwing holiday led by our production team. Learn how to centre and manipulate clay on the potter's wheel. Make consistent cylinders and develop the confidence to start throwing pots. Learn how to skim, trim and turn to make functioning mugs and bowls. Your shift at the pottery starts early, very early. Join us for plenty of brews, biscuits and brunch. Refreshments are included - they go well with chats!
This course includes a firing service - we’ll glaze your work for you and let you know when it’s ready to collect. If you’d prefer to glaze your own pots you can add-on a glaze session.

Duration: 20 teaching hours over 4 days, 1 hour to refuel and brunch.

Handbuilder’s Week:
Delve into constructing pots by hand. Our handbuilder’s week is a level 0/1 intensive handbuilding holiday led by our specialist team of makers. Learn how to build coil pots, assemble slab pots, and develop the confidence to start experimenting with hybrid techniques. Join us for plenty of brews, biscuits and lunch. Refreshments are included.
This course includes a firing service - we’ll glaze your work for you and let you know when it’s ready to collect. If you’d prefer to glaze your own pots you can add-on a glaze session.

Review the Government's Roadmap
We remain optimistic and plan to fully reopen on the 17 May. It’s important to note, this plan could still be disrupted if the Government's Roadmap changes.
It will remain important for people to consider the risks for themselves, taking into account whether they and those they meet have been vaccinated or are at greater risk.
