Clay Intensive: Introduction to Handbuilding

Our short clay intensives are suitable for absolute beginners – no previous experience necessary.
This session covers a range of core handbuilding techniques and processes. In two hours you’ll learn how to build three pots using three construction methods.
Join us for an afternoon at Form Lifestyle Store (Manchester) and learn how to make a series of small bowls. You’ll learn how to manipulate soft and firm clay; you’ll develop an understanding of how to adapt techniques and processes in response to different consistencies of clay; and explore different methods of moulding, assembling and constructing pots. It’ll be fast and fun.

What you need to know
This experience is for adults (18+) only.
Finished works, fired and glazed (where needed), will be available for collection from the workshop venue within 28 days after the session. If you are unable to collect we can arrange for your work to be delivered for £10 per address.
It’s standard workshop practice to wear flat, sturdy shoes with covered toes. Please protect your feet.
Rings and long fingernails can be problematic when working with clay – please consider this when booking.
Form is housed in a period setting. Access to the store is at street level. Access to the workshop spaces is via spiral staircases. Unfortunately there is no lift access. If you have any concerns about specific access requirements please contact Sunken Studio or Form Lifestyle Store.
Form is based in the Northern Quarter, Manchester. It is easily accessible by car and public transport. There is ample pay and display parking nearby.
